Tesco Malaysia

Now this is a  very interesting topic. 2 days ago i was shopping at Tesco Damansara and somehow i managed to checkout with some unpaid merchandise. The unpaid merchandise in question is a box of gillete shaver blades (RM 20 Value).

Of course, i plan on returning this unpaid merchandise the next few days and then it hit me, what and how will those folks at TESCO react/respond? Call in the cops? do a huge PR exercise? give me a RMXXX shopping spree? Well, my wife says that all im gonna get is just a THANK YOU. We will see

so what do you guys think?

ps: I wil update this post once i return the item in question to Tesco. Do come back for updates!

  3. Share another stories of TESCO.
    Recently TESCO is not there to put up info/instruction like ” Limit __ units per day per Family” due to there are so many !!!!!!!!???????? looking at them. What they did is quitely set the limit at Point of sales system at Casheir counter. All custoemr do not know this until you make payment.
    This is a kind of unfair practices, they make customer busy to come, happyly take qty. they want but end up with arguement at casheir counter. In my opinion this is a very bad business ethic pratice, they should make clear identification to customer rather than hiding some thing aat the back.

    Saya telah beberapa kali mengesan terdapat beberapa perbezaaan harga yang ditawarkan dengan harga yang ada didalam sistem iaitu harga di cashier.

    1. Harga promosi tidak sama dengan harga yang sebenar
    2. Harga yang dipamirkan dirak tidak sama dengan harga yang sebenar.

    1. Susu kotak ducth lady full cream
    Harga promosi RM 3.29, harga dikaunter RM 4.XX [dah lupa] Selepas bertengkar, dia orang beri harga promosi.

    Kes 2 [ 10/5/2009] @ 9:30 malam – tesco sungai petani

    1. Shampo head & shoulder, harga promosi RM 12.99, harga dikaunter RM 16.99
    2. Ava liquid softner, harga dirak RM 4.60, harga dikaunter RM 5.25

    Saya tak tahu sanmaada ini adalah kesilapan tak disengajakan atau sengaja diuat untuk mengaburi mata pengguna.

    Diharap agar pihak Tesco serta Persatuan Pengguna serta Kementerian tengok sedikit perkara ini, mungkin bukan sahaja diTesco tetapi disemua pasarraya agar pengguna tidak ditipu sejajar dengan slogan RAKYAT DIDAHULUKAN.

    Tesco suka buat promosi, dan tidak paparkan had atau limits pada papan tanda harga.
    Tapi bila you bawa ke kaunter bayaran, cashier mula kata, kena check dengan supervisor, mungkin ada limit. Bila supervisor atau manager datang dia bagi tau boleh ambil dua sahaja, dan dengan angkuh dia kata lagi, kami berhak buat limit ikut suka kami. Tidak kah ini satu penipuan sacara tidak langsung terhadap pembeli?
    TESCO do not stated limit on promotion item, but when you wanted to make payment at cashier, they start calling their supervisor or Manager. When they come they said there is limit and you are allow to take 2 only. On top, this supervisor or manager also said that they have right to do what they like. Do you think that this is a kind of fa;se info./chitting method used by TESCO to attaract customer?

    1. i somewhat agree with your comments. i think tesco should inform the customers on the T&C carefully to customers. sometimes the fine print is just too small to read…. ? 😛

  6. On 30th September 09 at 8.30 pm I was at the check out counter 10 of Tesco Alor Star to check out an hour shopping of goods in a loaded trolley. All the counters had long queues. Tesco is doing well in Alor Star.
    I waited for my turn patiently until 9.00 pm when the cashier suddenly closed the counter a customer before me. Without apology or prior notice of his impending shift ending, he said that his shift was over. “Saya punya shift sudah habis. Tak mau belipun tak apa!”
    Is this the way Tesco cashiers operate? At least put up a sign or verbally telling customer that the particular counter was going to close.
    Another interesting event unfolded. Nobody at the service counter or the attendant at the main entrance was interested in my complaint. They could not even direct me to their supervisor or equip me with contact number or names.
    So, with much disappointment, we left our trolley at counter No. 10 after informing the attendant to keep the products.We did not want the perishables to spoil.

    What do you say, Tesco??? You are a multi-national corporates. There is no use sending me SMS or members’ newsletters if you cannot manage your checkout counters properly.

    1. Thomas, i fully agree with your comment. I think this is a problem not only with tesco but carrefoure,jusco and many more. myself, have done as what you did so many time- just leave the shopping cart full of goods in disgust after a long wait at the checkout line!

  7. I have ordered a stove from Ferraz at homefair, paid hald of it. 2 weeks later, called to ask for the stove measurement in order to allow my contractor to prepare the stove cupboard.

    1 week before the installation, called up to arrange appointment. They replied fine, we will return call to you. 3 days later, no feedback. I called again to confirm, they said ok. Later revert call said, “We can’t arrange as you not yet settle the payment!”. My goodness, can’t you said that you can arrange and the same time payment is require?

    I am very mad, as I have applied leave to wait for the installation. So, I need the confirmation they are coming. The sales girl revert, sorry, last minute arrangement we can’t handle! Not that I have called 1 week earlier?! Your didn’t arrange and just blamed customer that last minute arrangement can’t be make!

    Further 2 weeks later, Ferraz sent the technician over to install the hooker and stove. The size can’t be fit in. Called to check with them, they said not sure where do I get the measurement. In their catalog, there are no such measurement. The sales girl even dare to hang up phone. What kind of services is this.

    Talked to her boss, mentioned about her service level bad. The boss even argue, you have no proof that my staff providing wrong measurement, since you get it from the phone. Who know is you are the one who are making mistake. My goodness, I purposely go to do a wrong measurement to make myself in trouble.

    So, I really piss with this kind of service. After you have paid all, they will not look into customer service to guide you solution.

    The argument is you should check it from the product brochure. During the exhibition, really no brochure was provided upon purchase. So, this is real life story, how you need to handle thing while shopping at home fair.

  8. baru-baru ni saya asa datang membeli belah di tesco setia alam.banyak kaunter yang buka,tetapi saya sangat tidak puas hati kepad seorang cashier ber nama fazila kerana beliau asyik bercerita sahaja semasa di kaunter,bukan sehari sahaja die buat begitu tetapi tiap kali saya membeli belah di sana..selepas itu mesti ada double scan…terpaksa la saya berjalan jauh untuk mengambil wang saya…saya harap pihak managment ambil tindakan.terima kasih..

Pada 31/7/2010 berbelanja di tesco Kulaijaya,antara barang yang dibeli ialah 9 buku buttercup .Harga promosi;3-RM9.saya telah menggunanya untuk membuat kuih dan buttercup yg terakhir dibuka telah berkulat,apabila diperiksa tarikh luput telah tamat pd 10/12/09…..TOLONG JAWAB bagaimana Buttercup yg telah luput hampir 8 bulan,dijual di Tesco.Kesilapan saya tidak periksa tarikh luput semasa membeli,kerana terlalu percaya pada Tesco.

  10. baru-baru ini saya ada membeli barang daripada tesco malangnya saya kena TIPU
    kejadian ini bukan berlaku pada saya malah rakan saya juga turut mengalami kejadian yang sama.
    barang tersebut cuma bernilai rm1.80 tetapi saya telah diperkenakan sebanyak rm 14xx, sungguh melampau. saya hanya sedari apabila telah meninggalkan tesco.
    diharap pihak tesco sungai dua pulau pinang mengambil tindakan, supaya kejadian ini tidak berterusan jangan sampai ada orang yang akan melakukan saman terhadap pihka anda.

    begong x begong~ g la tukar cik adik ui….
    memang begang, da la kena tipu,…..jadi macam ni pulak…

  12. i dont think tesco customer service is good…. a few month already i never reserved the statement . i had ask the customer service staff but they didnt give me the full information. just told me u will get it next statement??till now also havent get the statement? every week i spend money at there but till now didnt get the voucher? why must say that help us to spend less….

  13. I have very bad experience to shop at Tesco and now i’m so tired to shop there again! I used to buy my grocery stuffs at Tesco weekly. But i can say almost everytime when i went home to check the receipt, there were prices different!! On the shelves the price label is low, but in the receipt the price is high! And when you went back to claim the price difference, the customer service staffs will stare at you like you want to cheat them and spend at least 30 minutes to check and verify the case. Most of the time they will say that receipt price is right, and i got no proof because i went back to claim the money in another week and all the price label changed. So since that after i come out from the cashier counter, i will check the price immediately, still got price difference. And i have to go to the customer service counter to spend at least 30 minutes again to claim my 40 send price difference!!! I wonder if this is their tactics to earn more profit? If not, why their staffs don’t check the carefully? I feel i’m doing their job to check the price,and they don’t even apology when they found the mistake! CHECK YOUR RECEIPT WHENVER YOU SHOP AT TESCO!!!

  14. counter penuh dengan orang ramai, penat saya beratur panjang-panjang, bila sampai sahaja, cash suruh pergi counter lain…
    Kalau macam tu awal sikit beritau kite yang belakang tu. Penat kite semua beratur.
    .Mana boleh macam tu. Buang masa i dengan petrol i sahaja.TESCO memang teruk.
    Jangan bagi alasan Jusco, Carrefiour atau Giant pun sama, Tipulah. Ini kali pertama i kena. Jusno, Carrefour Ok je.. Mereka sangat mesra. Teruk betul Tesco.
    I nak mengadu Cik India tu. I nak Die kena berhenti kerja kalau boleh.

    I was at Tesco Taiping this morning of 8th Dec 2011 at 9.45am, I picked up a trolley from someone and unfortunately the trolley castors were very badly aligned. It would deviate 45degrees away after a few steps. Many trolleys are badly aligned anyway. Well, I approached a ‘green eco counter’ which was nearest to me at that moment to complain. She replied that it was not her duty and directed me to the customer service counter,,but that was more than 50meters away for a warga mas, I suggested that she bring up to the management if it is for the improvement of Tesco service. She ignored me as if not wanting to hear from me. I backed up and retorted to her which she reluctantly nodded without even giving any focus….extremely rude for a malaysian. I hope the management is interested in this comment for the benefit of their customers. IKEA SERVICE IS BEST.

  17. My car got stolen from their Tesco Mutiara D’sara parking lot. It was like almost a week now..and what surprising me, they are not bother to even call me back to discuss on the matter despite making several calls to them. And they claimed they are the best in town..

      1. Sorry for the late reply. It was managed by a parking company. But before anything, they claim that they only run it and whatever related to security falls under the building owner ie Tesco. So u can guest what going on now..shift the blame! What worse is that after a week after the incident, i went back to have a look..to see what measures was taken to avoid such incident to happen to other car owners..surprise surprise, NOTHING. They just don’t care and point their finger to the sign board..”PARK ON YOUR OWN RISK”. And yet we are paying parking fee…a big name like Tesco just don’t care!

      2. This doesnt make sense at all. Usually car park management is also responsible for the security of the facility.

        To share with you on my friend’s experience – his car was stolen at damansara atria – there is nothing he could do but lodge a police report and claim insurance – took almost 6 months before the insurance co finally made the payout –

        Your legal option is of course, to sue for losses against the car park management and tesco but that will be a long and expensive battle.

        From reading your comment – i believe you just need some response from SOMEONE, ANYONE to emphatize with your loss and i totally understand how you feel.

  18. Tesco in kulaijaya branch..there is one staff is suck!!! scold customer bad word!!!

    want to buy a things..but how i know the things without barcode..and the counter ask us to exchange ourself..but this thing supposed is their work..this is not our customer work..how can ask customer to exchange themself..such a lousy service…and second thing price wrongly show in display list..missleading price..

    can not tahan the staff…still want to quarral with us and scold bad words to us..and just go off his counter and work..and dont want to calculate our things

  19. on 13th march of 2012 17:12 . i buy a nokia handphone x1-o1 at electrical counter….
    at night i need go for my job.
    yesterday i use my phone to make a call everytime i call
    also disconnect i think is the line problem…
    after i change a phone to use the line is alright…
    and then use the phone again,,,, the phone every few time i make a call the phone the phone will disconnect….

    i tell the the staff there i just buy the phone yesterday… all the staff sitting there and told me… that is a line problem….
    non of my business.. u need send to customer service nokia….even never ask for receipt

    i tell them the problem they ask me the receipt
    then told them the problem they say i only can change for you if the electrical counter agree..
    then the customer service call to the electrical counter… the customer service told me the electrical counter call me send the phone to the nokia service center….
    that mean tesco selling me spoil phone and call me take the phone to warranty!!
    in between 16 hour …
    i need to take my new phone and go for warranty!!!!
    i buy the phone to soft my problem…
    but i buy the phone is giving me more problem

    1. well, mate….what do you expect from a nokia phone? dont expect world class quality item with 3rd world pricing.

      if you buy a ferrari and complain that it is not up to par, then i would understand…but a nokia phone? come on lah

  20. Salam sejahtera Customer Service Tesco Malaysia. Saya beli sebuah mesin basuh 6.5 kg pada hari Selasa 5/6/2012 jm 13:24 di Tesco Extra Kajang. No: rujukan : 02200040108331 P/SONIC FU. Semasa membeli kakitangan elektrikal tidak memberitahu yang penghantaran memakan masa selewat-lewatnya hingga seminggu untuk penghantaran dari kilang ke rumah kerana tiada stok. Apabila sya menalipon selepas dua hari tiada pemberitahuan oleh kakitangan elektrikal mengenai penghantaran tersebut. Nampak nya tiada coordination di antara Tesco dan Pembekal mengenai penghantaran tersebut. Ini menunjukkan sikap melepas batuk di tangga yang mana Tesco hanya ingin menjual barangan nya saja. Jika saya tahu begini lah jadinya sudah tentu saya tidak akan membeli barangan tersebut dari tesco. baik saya membeli mesin basuh dari kedai biasa saja yang menjual barangan elektrikal. Saya kecewa dengan pengurusan Tesco memandangkan sekarang kita dalam biz mempunyai persaingan dan masing-masing syarikat meningkatkan customer service. Jika penghantaran mesin basuh tersebut tidak dihantar dengan segera saya ingin membatalkan saja pembelian saya tu jika lah begini cara nya.
    Diharap dapat tindakan yang segera dari pihak Tesco.

    pada 8.2.2013,saya bersama anak saudara saya ke pusat membeli belah tesco seberang jaya….setelah saya selesai membeli barang-barang keperluan dapur…..sambil membawa troli yang mengandungi barang keperluan dapur,menuruni tangga automatik, troli barang terus mengelongsor secara tiba-tiba di luar kawalan saya,terus jatuh kebawah.Saya cuba menyelamatkan keadaan,tetapi semua ini terjadi sekelip mata.
    Troli barang telah jatuh ke atas badan saya semasa cuba mempertahankan troli barang tersebut.
    Dari peristiwa tersebut,saya mengalami sedikit kecederaan melibatkan kaki…..saya berasa sedikit terkilan dan kecewa dengan pihak tesco,kerana kecuaian mereka,peristiwa ini telah berlaku pada saya….saya agak trauma….
    Walaupun pihak tesco telah menghantar saya mendapatkan rawatan di unit kecemasan hospital seberang jaya,,,,tetapi saya masih tidak berpuas hati….setelah saya pulang ke rumah tiada sebarang lawatan dari pihak tesco melawat saya…dan tiada kos rawatan diberi..mana perginya sikap keprihatinan mereka..
    ………………………saya amat berharap pihak yang bertanggungjawab ambil tindakan lebih terperinci dan teliti terhadap kes saya……mungkin hari ini kejadian ini terjadi kepada saya…tetapi esok lusa kita tidak tahu kepada siapa pula……

  23. I have shopping at seberang jaya this couple day ! I saw a staff was scold loudly infront of me !! I feel uncomfortable when saw that ! The staff was scold very rude and she just keep quite and cry ,but her boss still not stop scold her around 5-10mins !! I think tesco must alert on this happen ! This is not a right way to treat a staff !!

  24. There is no service with a smile in Tesco at Paradigm Mall . I was there yesterday (weekday) at about 11.30am with loads of shopping and being senior citizens, we are always forgetful. We left behind two bags Cutie compact tissue rolls which were being charged to the bill.Although there was no customer behind, the cashier (no smile and tired looking) did not have the courtesy to call us to collect, being that how fast can we go pushing the trolley to the exit. Anyway wonder what will happen to the tissue rolls – belongs to the Management or the cashier!!!!!!!!

  25. I am a regular customer of TESCO SEREMBaN 2.Here I would like to lodge a complaint regarding the clean and hygieness at the bakery section in TESCO SEREMBAN 2.
    The workers are not wearing gloves and masks during working session.I Have been seen one of the workers were snipping the breads while holding them without wearing a pair of gloves and the other one was sneezing directly towards the food without wearing a mask.
    This clearly shows that they are not obeying the rules and regulations of the respactive health organisations.In this case,it is very harmfull act as it could afect the consumers` health condition.What shall I do to overcome these problems?
    This is the third time I am complaining about the same issue and there were no any respond for the past two times.
    We are expecting a positive result very soon.

  27. Sebagai seorang pelanggan ingin membuat aduan berkaitan peniaga di bahagian tempat ‘Promotion Lot’ yg menjual bag dan juga kasut yg bersikap kurang ajar terhadap saya. Sebagai pelanggan, saya berhak untuk memilih barangan yg saya kehendaki selagi saya tidak membuat sebarang pembayaran.
    Untuk pengetahuan pihak pengurusan, saya dapati product yg di jual di Bazaar Rakyat ini (terutama Bag) didapati adalah barangan yg sama dan mengelirukan lagi kerana peniaga kedai didapati bukan orang yg sama.Bagi saya sebagai pembeli rasa amat tidak berpuas hati kerana ia amat mengelirukan contohnyer dari segi pembayaran @ pertukaran barang.
    Pada saya, sepatutnyer barangan yg sama tidak boleh berada di kedudukan yg berdekatan dan ini menyebabkan kekeliruan berlaku.
    Pada tarikh dan masa yg di sertakan, saya di marahi oleh seorang lelaki Cina (mungkin owner kedai) kerana tidak jadi mengambil bag di tempat beliau. Sebagai pelangan saya amat kecewa di atas sikap perniaga seperti ini.
    Cadangan saya, saya berharap pihak Tesco mengambil tindakan di atas Peniaga Lot ini yg menjatuhkan mertabat saya dan mungkin pelanggan lain. Sepatutnyer barangan / product yg sama tidak patut di jual berdekatan sehingga menyebabkan kekeliruan kepada pengguna. Malah, yg menyakitkan hati peniaga mempunyanyi perasaan iri hati terhadap peniaga yg lain bila pelanggan membeli barangan di kedai yg berdekatan.
    Saya sebagai pelanggan Tesco yg setia, INGIN PERUBAHAN dilakukan di tempat kejadian supaya kejadian ini tidak berulang pada diri saya dan juga pelanggan yg lain.

  29. Poor customer service at Tesco Kulim. Now its a peak hours of shoppers at tesco kulim but indeed only 2 counters open to make payment.

    People are tired after long work hours and now we need to Q up so long to get things paid

  30. Hello..I do installment at tesco klang. I choose samsung note 3 , and the sale person give me price rm2199.00 and I agree the price. .and I apply the aeon installment. After that my loan is approved. .but I came to tesco, and see the sale person and talk for me about the peice is up..rm2399.. what u think.

    Shopping is a pleasant thing to do. But, on the other hand, this could be a nightmare to me. The customer is always right. I spent my money at Tesco, instead I got this type of treatment from your staff. Not fair to me. Why Aeon can provide the best service. Tesco, please treat this matter seriously . Remember that Tesco was not alone in KL . In the future, I will not be shopping

  36. I have a bad experience shopping in Tesco Kulai JB branch yesterday. I bought 2 boxes of cherry tomato. It was placed at the rack with RM2 / box price tag.
    When i checked out, i was charged RM5.99 for each box !
    So i went to the customer service counter & told the lady these tomato was placed at the wrong rack & causing me to pay prices beyond my expectation.
    The lady checked the rack and guess what she told me?
    She said: ” Oh…the RM2 tomato was actually sold out, it is the customer who pushed the other type of tomato to the RM2 rack , this item cannot be returned & refund”
    When i question her isn’t this their job to make sure the item is on the right place with right pricing ? And it were 3 boxes of the RM5.99 tomato placed at RM2 rack. Which customer is so free to do such thing ?
    Instead of giving me a refund she blame the customers without any evidence to show this is done by customers’ itchy hands to do so. She even said they are not so free to go and check if all items in the right place. So we customer are the ones who so free and do such job for them ??

    I have similar experience when i shopped in Aeon Big, but once they found out the location/ price is miss leading the customer, they allow to return & refund straight away. Nice & steadt without hassle.

  38. Rude staff
    I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this but whenever I order tesco online and book a slot. I actually have to keep calling tesco on the day of delivery, so that the delivery would come at the time booked. Otherwise, I have experienced before that the delivery come up to 6hours late! So coming late seems to be a norm for Tesco, I have been lucky a number of times but that too is because I was calling to see where they were. There are times when I am in a hurry to go out
    and they still didn’t arrive.
    There were twice when the drivers and assistant driver ( I don’t recall the names)were very rude to me, on top of being late they didn’t even apologize and acted very arrogant about it. Particularly today this driver Amdy(I think his name) started to scream and growl very loudly to me. Even his Assistant was very rude to me( the same one that came a different day with another rude driver).I just refuse to deal with him and closed the door! Is this the treatment tesco customers are subjected to now? Why can’t you just apologize and accept that you made a mistake? Of course customers get upset when you are a few hours late…I think we are entitled too since we are paying for the product but I don’t behave rudely! Please hire better staff as it is your company that they are representing!

  39. We signed up for Tesco membership many years ago and didn’t receive any of our vouchers. Everytime we checked at the custimer service counters we were told that the vouchers would be mailed to us. Recently we found that our address had been wrongly keyed in ( it was in a totally different location). Therefore the vouchers were not sent to our home.
    We tried to appeal to Tesco about reimbursing our loss but we told that they cannot do so. We feel cheated because the mistake was through no fault of ours. We are retires and every cent counts and we have to pay for Tesco’s carelessness.

  40. Yesterday I was at Tesco Mutiara Damansara around 3.pm. I observed a drop in customer service standards and attitude and wish to bring this up as a matter of public interest and also for Tesco to improve. I wanted to get someone to help me bring down a plastic item which was stacked high up on Row 3 but was refused by an Indian ‘Supervisor’ (long hair with walkie talkie). Approach to Customer service was met with “Orang telah kelaur makan sekarang”. I left the store without buying anything eventhough I had to pay RM4/- for the parking. I finally bought the stuff I wanted at nearby Tropicana AEON BIG. Daniel

  41. I brought a Samsung LED TV on 6th Dec from Tesco Sungai Petani Selatan branch. Upon returning home, found out that the USB port is not able to detect any USB flash drive.

    I immediately called Samsung customer care line and was advised by the customer service agent to contact the seller for replacement as explained by the agent that the seller has sell me the faulty item. With Samsung’s advice, I brought the TV back to the store for replacement but was told that the model was out of stock, no replacement can be done. I have been checking the stock status with the staff for the past one week but no one could tell me when I can get my TV replaced. Sold the faulty item and keep saying no stock for replacement.

  42. The foodcourt for Sizzling in Tesco Kulim will test everyone’s patience. If the Pakcik is too old to entertain customers, pls change to get better business. From morning upto the busiest business hours the light will be green but the food won’t be ready according to him. Everytime it dissapoints customers. Other outlets are efficient except this. Happy Valley Food Court u can close shop.

    I’m living at Segamat and my relative have some land around 4.5 Acar this land is suitable for making shopping and market so William is trying to let Tesco know about this . Is also beside main road side Jln Genuang .
    So William put Tesco in first place to introduce this land .

  44. assalammualaikum saya md asyraf b md yusuf pelnggan tesco stargate kedah.sya nk membuat aduan terhdp seorg sgm bernma kanageswari…sya tidak puas hati cara beliau menengur staf beliau ayat tidak elok didepan orang awam serta menjatuhkan maruah staf beliau.dimanakah nilai baik dan sopan seorang ketua terhadap staf beliau.saya harap pihak berwajib memantau pekara supaya tidak berlaku perkara tak elok teruk lagi..
