Pasar Ramadan Kelana Jaya

Some of you may recall my post last year on the Setapak Pasar Ramadan (PARAM for short)  so this year i decided to check out the one in kelana jaya instead. It is not as big as Putrajaya or Shah Alam but it is well known for some well known stalls that have been operating there every year.

For some reason, i find kelana jaya Param to be very…. smoky…lots of bbq, satay, lamb, and ikan bakar stalls here!

Guess why this is makcik laughing ? hehehe….

One of the best hidden secret of Kelana Jaya Param is this makcik’s stall. Her Sambal Petai Pau is so famous that THE STAR reporter was there yesterday also to cover the story! So , next time…pandai pandai go kelana jaya look for this stall!

Oh…guess which celebrity i bumped into at kelana jaya param!  nampak tak ?

Yeah…one of her fans asked me to help snap a pic…so i did lah…… azura zainal needs no introduction kan…kan ?

And in case you were wondering what azura was looking at in the 1st picture….here it is..

Yeah, i was just as surprised as well. There was actually one stall closed with a tutup sign. i guess everyone needs a break once in a while and pamper their friends and family to a great feast. anyone knows what this great offer from CIMB is about ? makan 4 orang bayar untuk 3 sounds like a great deal, especially at doubletree !

Spotify Malaysia

I love spotify. i really love it that i can listen and discover so many different genres (john coltrane, belphegor, etc…etc…)

This new Spotify price comparison by was really an eye opener and this really should spur more malaysians to sign up and start listening ( and support) music and artists that the love legally.

snippet : “Notably, Malaysia, Argentina, and the Phillippines have the greatest value to cost ratio. Malaysians only pay US$4.59 after conversion for monthly access to the premium service (about half what Americans are paying) “

If you are a MAXIS subscriber, the current RM10 promo for Spotify Premium (instead of RM14.95)  + FREE 150MB data is an amazing deal

Probably one of the smartest partnership maxis has tied up with, making it a little reluctant for me to jump to another telco as i want to continue enjoying this great deal.

Good Guy Huawei Device Malaysia

Joining a facebook contest is easy. you just submit your details, submit your answers/jump through hoops/play games in order for a chance to win a prize.

Running a facebook contest however, is not that easy. From campaign planning, budget setting,  clearing legal terms and conditions, coordinating logistics, communicating with winners, etc..etc…  A lot of work goes into setting up a good facebook campaign that you most brands will hope to garner more engagement, conversation,  positive brand/product reinforcement , etc..etc..  . Extending campaigns outside of facebook platform increases the complexity as the recent Huawei Devices Malaysia discovered.

The original campaign was guess the price of the soon to be launched Huawei Honor 3C smartphone.

Once the contest ended, Huawei Devices Malaysia received more than 100 correct entries and so decided that the best way was ..

So….everyone that guessed correctly ( the price of Honor 3C is RM499) received a redemption code and they were supposed to redeem it at the online store on 3rd May 3.08pm  . The 1st 100 successfull transaction will receive the code.

The redemption day came and went, and then it turns out vmall system couldnt handle the logic ( redemption code = valid only for 1st 100) and instead, 174 winners all got their orders processed successfully. Guess what Huawei Devices Malaysia did next ?

Yup. They honored (pun intended) each and every one of the additional 74 winners…..

Kudos to Huawei Device Malaysia team for doing the right thing. I believe this is a great step towards building a positive brand image in malaysia and with your consumers.

Rise of the Rentership Economy

small for rent

I first read of the rise of the  Rentership economy and how it will take over the world first in WIRED Magazine in 2010 (click to read). Then, i just brushed it off as an idea far too advance/ahead of its time. But today, if you ask me if Rentership had really taken off, the answer will be a resounding YES! The rapid advancement of mobile technology and the increasing pressure to make ends meet, there is an explosion of the types of services and goods that you can rent today.

Just Look Around you! Even in Malaysia,  people are listening to music on Spotify ( Renting Music) , booking a cab/limo on Mytaxi/Uber (Renting Transport) , checking into a strangers room overseas on AirBNB/iBilik (Renting rooms)  and watching a few videos on Tonton (renting videos) .

Still not convinced ?

Well, at least in America, the thrust into a rentership economy have truly gone into overdrive where you can even rent someone’s elses car, tools, boats and even a dinner at their homes. Check out the full article from the recent Wired article here

In fact, the popular comedy show even did a parody of UBER with a FAKE new service called PUBER (Where… rent….someone else’s….toilet…)  .
